Our department hosts and organizes multiple research events.
We host periodic workshops featuring presentations by academics and prospective faculty members throughout the academic year.
We also co-organize with the accounting department at UNC (Chapel Hill) the Duke/UNC Fall Camp, an invitation-only two-day conference in which we welcome Duke and UNC alumni back to our campuses. For more information, please refer to the Duke/UNC Fall Camp website.
Moreover, we host the Accounting Theory Summer School in conjunction with the Accounting and Economic Society. The program aims to introduce participants to several theoretical frameworks relevant to accounting research, to develop the ability to generate theory-based insights and to apply them to accounting research, to appreciate the connection between accounting research and broader research paradigms in economics and finance, and to stimulate new insights in both analytical and empirical research. The summer school is designed for accounting junior faculty and advanced PhD students who are interested in analytical accounting research or theory-based empirical research. For more information, please refer to the Accounting Theory Summer School website.
